What it is
Bea is an AI phone receptionist sold to New Zealand and Australian small businesses by telco Be Connect. It answers inbound calls around the clock, captures caller details, books appointments and transfers calls under rules the business configures.
Watch out
- The only free way in is a seven-day trial; the three published plans (NZ$79 (about $44)/$149/$299) all carry a monthly fee and no $0 tier exists. Bea's terms state that at the end of a trial the service stops unless you subscribe and that trial data may be deleted, so a business cannot keep answering calls for free after week one.
- Bea is sold as a configured service: the whole site is 17 pages with no developer docs, API reference or integrations page, and the terms' own enumeration of what the service does lists call answering, calendar booking, transfers and SMS or email notifications but no API or webhook. Connectivity is telephony-side (SIP, call forwarding) plus a 'basic CRM' and Xero integration on higher plans.
- Every customer quote on the home page is labeled a placeholder by the vendor itself, and the comparison table of NZ and AU rivals is the vendor's own compilation. There is no independent review record for Bea, so all capability claims rest on Be Connect's marketing and legal pages alone.

- What it bills by
